What is Change for Kids?

Change for Kids is a campaign that supports Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital’s highest priority needs by raising money for ground-breaking medical treatments, technologies, and therapies in addition to its special programs like art, music, life skills, and respite care which are designed to open up a world of possibility for kids with disabilities, and their families.

 

How do I get involved with Change for Kids?

Change for Kids offers businesses, families, students, schools, and individuals a variety of fun and easy ways to get involved in supporting Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital. From creating a #HBYOUfie in honour of a person who has changed your life, to creating an online fundraising campaign to engage your workplace, there are many ways that raising money to benefit kids with disabilities and their families can fit into your life. What is Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital?

Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital is Canada’s largest children’s rehabilitation hospital, fully affiliated with the University of Toronto.  The hospital pioneers treatments, technologies, therapies and real-world programs that give children with disabilities the tools to participate fully in life. How does Change for Kids help Holland Bloorview?

Net proceeds of the Change for Kids program support the highest priority needs at Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital, , including: life changing treatments and therapies to benefit kids with autism, concussion, acquired brain injury, cerebral palsy and other physical and developmental disabilities, as well as programs like arts, music, life skills and respite care.

 

Why is my credit card information stored on the Change for Kids website?

Your credit card information is stored on our website for your convenience. Credit card data is stored in a secure, PCI Level 1 compliant, online vault that is audited every year by a Visa certified security assessor. The PCI audit guidelines are based on 280 stringent controls. Data is protected using access control at various levels and stored using Advanced Encryption Standards, the highest level of civilian encryption available.

 

Will you sell my contact details or send me unwanted messages?

No. Your information is confidential. Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital Foundation will not distribute your contact details to any other party. Unless we receive your permission to put your name on Holland Bloorview’s mailing list, we will contact you only about the Change for Kids program. Read the Change for Kids Privacy Policy.

 

Why are you not selling coin cards again?

Inspired by the health care teams at Holland Bloorview who change lives every day, the new Change for Kids gives people the chance to honour those who make a difference in their lives and make a donation in support of Holland Bloorview’s highest priority needs.

While coin cards are no longer a part of the Change for Kids campaign, all funds raised through Change for Kids still benefit the same innovative treatments, technologies, therapies and programs that change the lives of kids with disabilities.

Why is my #HBYOUfie not showing up on the Change for Kids website?

Before being posted to the gallery, every #HBYOUfie is held for up to 48 hours for moderation to ensure that its content adheres to the quality standards outlined in the #HBYOUfie terms and conditions. As soon as your #HBYOUfie has been moderated, it will appear in the gallery. If the moderation period has passed and your #HBYOUfie still is not posted to the gallery, please refer to the terms and conditions to make sure that your image or video was not in violation before attempting to re-submit.

 

Who has the rights to my #HBYOUfie?

Upon submission you grant Holland Bloorview the non-exclusive right to use and make available any whole or part of your #HBYOUfie in perpetuity for a variety of purposes including advertising and promotion of the Change for Kids program and/or Holland Bloorview Foundation, You agree to forgo compensation and waive any right to inspect or approve the use to which the #HBYOUfie might be applied. Can I edit or delete my #HBYOUfie?

No. Once your #HBYOUfie has been submitted it cannot be altered. Holland Bloorview Foundation is also not required to comply with requests for deletions.

 

I am the subject of a #HBYOUfie and I did not grant the submitter permission to use my photo. What can I do?

If you have been depicted in a #HBYOUfie without giving permission to the submitter and would like to have the image or video removed from the gallery, please email [email protected] or call 416-424-3862.

 

I cannot upload my #HBYOUfie via the Change for Kids website, or I keep getting a technical error. What can I do?

Can I make a #HBYOUfie about my dog?

Sure! We like dogs. The #HBYOUfie is all about celebrating the positive power of change and giving people the opportunity to honour those who make a difference everyday life. If your dog has changed your life, then feel free to create a #HBYOUfie that honours him or her.

 

PRIZING

Please note: The #HBYOUfie prizing promotion concluded on February 16, 2015. Winners will be randomly selected and notified by February 28, 2015. The winners list will be posted to the Sponsors and Prizing page.

My #HBYOUfie has not been posted to the gallery, am I still eligible for prizing?

Yes, as long as your #HBYOUfie submission was not in violation of the Terms and Conditions as outlined on changeforkids.ca, your submission will be eligible for prizing.

 

How do I win prizes?

There are different categories of prizing when you participate in Change for Kids. No purchase necessary. You must be an Ontario resident over the legal age of majority to claim prizes. Please refer to the Rules and Regulations under the About Us and School Campaign pages for full prizing details and eligibility information. Here are the ways that you can win:

1. Submit a #HBYOUfie: By submitting your #HBYOUfie at the Change for Kids website, you are eligible to win one of five $1,000 Scotiabank RESP contributions, one of five family trips to Great Wolf Lodge (valued at $850), one of 15 $200 Canadian Tire gift cards, one of four $750 Toys “R” Us gift cards, or one of ten $200 Sport Chek gift cards. Prize winners will be notified on or before the end of February. You must answer a skill testing question and sign a release to claim your prize.

2. Fundraise as a family and student: The top five student online fundraisers will win $1,000 towards a Scotiabank RESP. Four family trips to Great Wolf Lodge (valued at $850) will be awarded to the remaining top nine family and student fundraisers. Prize winners will be notified on or before end of February. You must answer a skill testing question and sign a release to claim your prize. Students under the legal age of majority must be registered to fundraise by an adult in order to qualify for prizing.

3. Fundraise on behalf of a school: Schools are eligible to win one of 10 prizes from Toys“R”Us worth up to $2,000. The top two schools will receive $2,000 from Toys”R”Us, the next top three schools will recieve $1,500, and the next top five schools will recieve $1,000 Funds raised within the school and from online fundraising by families and students will qualify for one of the top 10 prizes. Prize winners will be notified on or before June 1, 2015.  You must answer a skill testing question and sign a release to claim your prize. Students under the legal age of majority must be registered to fundraise by an adult in order to qualify for prizing.

 

Will you deliver prizes?

Prizes will be mailed via Canada Post and delivery will be arranged at the time of winner notification.

 

Is there a minimum age to participate?

Everyone may participate, but participants who are under 18 years of age must have a parent or guardian upload a #HBYOUfie and/or register a fundraising campaign page on their behalf.  Ontario residents under the legal age of majority can also win prizes, provided that their parent(s) or legal guardian(s) register online, accept the rules and regulations, accept the prize, and sign the release on their behalf.

 

DONATING

Can I get a tax receipt for my Change for Kids donation?

Yes. You can make a donation to Change for Kids and receive a tax receipt for your donation by visiting changeforkids.ca.

 

I don’t want use a credit card, how else can I make a donation?

Online donations can be made through PayPal.  Debit and cash donations are accepted through the Holland Bloorview Foundation office located at 150 Kilgour Road –  5th Floor, Room 5W210.  You can also complete our donation form and mail a cheque or money order payable to Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital Foundation care of:

REGISTRATION/ONLINE FUNDRAISING

 

Do I have to register online to fundraise?

If you would like to give people the option to make secure online credit card donations as part of your fundraising, yes you must register to fundraise via the Change for Kids website. Registration is simple and takes less than three minutes to complete.

 

How long does it take for my online fundraising account to be activated?

Your account is activated as soon as you register.

 

What do I do if I have lost my password?

From the log in page, you can select “Forgot my password” and then enter your email address to receive a confirmation of your log in details.

 

I am being asked for my username and password. What is it?

When you register to fundraise online for Change for Kids you will create an account, and set up a username and password. Once you have your username and password, you can log into the website as often as you like, whenever is most convenient for you. Please keep this log in information in a handy place for your reference.

 

I am having trouble registering, what should I do?

Make sure you have filled out the mandatory fields on the registration page. Don’t forget, everyone may participate, but participants who are under 18 years of age must have a parent or guardian register an account on their behalf and accept the rules and regulations on the website. To register, you must also be a resident of Ontario.
